New PSU necessary?

Well I found the 420watt power supply I have is appearently not to good it came with my Raidmax Cobra 822 output is:
+3.3V@26A +5V@32A +12V@13A -5V@.5A -12V@.8A +5Vsb@2A
Voltage: VCoreA-1.42v +3.3V-3.34v +12V-12.11V
I want to overclock an 64 3000+ to about 2.2ghz I have an Gigabyte K8NF-9 with an x800xl could this psu handle it? Or should I go with a new psu with 24pin for my pci-e board? Any recommendations on what to do whether its a new one less than $75 or keep the one i have.
 
I don't think that psu will run an a64 at stock speeds let alone oc'ing. The 13a on 12v kills it a64 needs 18a I think, and ~25a+ for oc'ing.

Here's a decent psu, a little more than your price though, most decent 24pin psu's are expensive.

I have it running on this power supply right now I havent noticed any problems over a weeks time. It sounds like I need something else but im having a hard time searching through newegg to find one with 24pin.
 
Spending money on a good PSU will help your overclocking. The Antec Neopower is a very good PSU that has 24 pin and Active PFC.
 
The Neopower is only about $20 more than the Tagan and it will very likely save you at least that much in electric bills in just a yr

Get an ATX V2.0 power supply, they are more energy efficient and they support 24pin MB's, you will be more future proof.

A PSU is the most important part of your system, expect to pay around $100 which is still less than most MB'sand it will not let you down.

Pick up a Kill A Watt electricity / energy usage monitor / meter ($30-$35) and you will be shocked at how much $$ even a 2 yr old PSU is wasting.
 
the minimum you need to oc effectively is about 22+ amps on the 12v, i would suggest a OCZ powerstream. i have the 600 watt powerstream, and rails dont drop more than .01 volts on the 12v rail and the 5 and 3.3 are stable as hell.
