I'm looking at upgrading some stuff in my X-QPack and when I do that upgrade, I want to put in a new PSU (to replace the stock one). What PSUs are known to fit in the QPack?

The Enermax Noisetaker 425P (420W) PSU fit with no problems what-so-ever. No need to remove any fan grills, just had to pull out the DVD-RW drive to fit it in. Also, the power cable was a bit stiff, so I removed the floppy drive to make some room for it.

pretty much any good psu can fit. i personally had a enermax liberty 500w in my Qpack, it fit like a glove just the cables were configured stupid. as in one modular plug has molex-sata-molex-sata order so it wasn't that ideal for the Qpack and other cases. i have since sold it to a friend and put a antec neopower i wasnt' using in it. it fits fine just the modular plugs coming out of the psu itself get in the way of my optical drive (BenQ DW1640) but if you have a short drive like a sony/lite-on then you'll have clearance.

I'm not so sure about those PSUs with the fan on the bottom. I tried putting in an Antec TruePower and it just wouldn't fit because the fan cover was landing on top of the crossbeam and so it would be able to be fully seated. I'll look into the NeoPowers though. Thanks for the advice.

I'm using an Antec TruePower 430W right now, I had to saw off part of the black power plug-thingy at the back to make it fit, as well as remove the bottom fan grill. But after that it works A-okay.

Did you settle on this selection based on confirmation that it fits good...or..just taking a chance?

I was looking over at the HardForums SFF section and saw a few people running this PSU. Since it is standard size, it will fit with my Lite-On drive. Also, if the fan grill becomes a problem (because of the crossbeam), I can easily remove it since it is attached from the outside of the PSU.

Sure thing. It will probably be at the end of May when I do this.

for the person with the fan rpoblem, you can always make a bracke, or drill the correct holes to make it fit backwards

The new(?) Samsung Writemaster DVDRW's are also shorter than average - I have one in my X-QPack with an Enermax Liberty 400w (and I echo aiya24's comments about the cables, but the PSU works great) with room to spare.

Eh, I already bought the stuff. I got an Enermax Noisetaker 420W PSU, and a combo deal with the X2 3800+ and a PNY GeForce 7600GT (plus there is a rebate on the card).

All the stuff from Newegg arrived today (with UPS shipping and not a dent on the box).

I'll have some pictures later.

Basically, after disconnecting everything so I could pull the mobo tray out, I replaced the CPU, moved the RAM into channel 1 slots, and installed an Audigy 2 ZS (which I pulled out of my Dimension 8400) and my 7600GT. That was the easy part.

The power supply fit in relatively easily, the fan did not interfere with any of the crossbeams. I did have to pull out my Lite-On drive though before I could install the PSU since the cables coming out of the back were in the way. I ended up pulling out the floppy too so I would have a place to put cables after everything was installed. Now I'm reformatting and I'll be back later after that task is complete.

I don't plan on doing anything else to it. Maybe add a sound card if I can't figure out what's wrong with my integrated audio (I've been told that it could be a video driver issue).

I didn't have problems before my upgrade. Only after have I had audio problems which consisted of audio stuttering ever so often when playing music (it was fine when playing FEAR).

Idk. It may be a graphics card issue now that I think of it. Windows is taking a long time to get to the welcome screen. When I get a chance, I'll try pulling that out and see if that solves any problems.
