For those of you who don't already know, this video card is a power-hungry monster and causes the over-voltage protection in higher-end PSUs to trip when the system is powered on. IMHO i don't think ATi should ever have released them to market, but, oh well. What's done is done.
Anyways, here's my dilemna. My system specs are as listed below... What's happening is as stated above, but more recently i have noticed that the insulation on the +5v line (red) right where it connects to the pin in the plug is black. THIS IS NOT GOOD! Hot wires, black insulation... i don't want a fire in here please, thank you very much.
What i would like to know is whether or not i should get a high wattage PSU or if i should replace this video card. I'm sick of these problems that i've been having with it; if i turn off the computer and leave it to let the PSU cool down, it gives me real hell to get it back up and running.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
