New PSU doesn't work with one of my PCs

Ok, so got an Antec EarthWatts 500 since I wanted more Molex connectors.

It doesn't work AT ALL with my Gigabyte GA-7DXR board. Power LED doesn't even come on. A diagnostic LED on the board flickers and that's it.

Old 250W PSU + GA-7DXR = fine
EarthWatts + Intel board PC (with 20 pin connector) = fine

EarthWatts + GA-7DXR = not even power up.

The EarthWatts doesn't have -5v and I thought that was the cause. I have a scrap Ultra Products 400W PSU and I actually cut the -5v between the unit and the connector and GA-7DXR actually powers up.

For some reason, the board doesn't ok powering the PSU.

I have run into the same issue with an earthwatts 380w and a foxconn s939 nf4 motherboard. I basically came to the conclusion it is a timing issue with the "power good" signal from the motherboard not being able to switch on the PSU correctly.

The Earthwatts 500W has a minimum load requirement on the 12v, 3.3v, and 5v

That's not it.
My Intel board use even less power than my system with Gigabyte board and runs fine.

May be an issue with the board and the PSU not sinking up or somthing. I've heard of this before but don't know why its a problem or how to fix it if you can. Try RMAing the PSU and getting a new one. If the problem persists then you will need to go with a different model/brand.
