Without knowing what mobo you have now, it's impossible to say if you'll need a new one or not. Tell us exactly what you have now.
By AMD dual-channel DDR, I bet you mean nForce2. Again, without knowing what you have now...

If you have two matching sticks of DDR266, DDR333 or DDR400, then you can use either AMD or Intel dual-channel-DDR boards. With the 333MHz-based AMD CPUs such as the 2700+ and 2800+, you would want the RAM to be at least DDR333.
If you meant a dual-
CPU AMD system, the two virtual CPUs on a HT P4 aren't going to compare to a true dualie of either Intel or AMD brand, unless your workload consists mainly of running SiSoft Sandra all day.

Real CPUs are better than virtual ones. The AMD dualies have proven to be quite strong *if* you have a situation where dual CPUs actually can be put to work to your advantage, and are using a dual-aware operating system such as WinNT 4.0, Win2000, or WinXP Professional.
