New Processor! Having some heatsink issues

Hi, I am a noob, and I just got a Prescott P4 3GHz. I ordered thermal grease, but there already is a patch of heat paste under the heatsink. I want to use the thermal grease i ordered, but my question is, do I have to scrape the stuff off the heatsink first, and then put the grease on, or can I just leave what is already on the heatsink on, and just squeeze the thermal grease right onto the chip. Thanks!

BTW, the thermal grease i have is Artec Ceramique

You do not want to apply the grease with the thermal pad on it. Make sure you go to artic's web page and read on how to apply it and about removing the pad.
