Congrats on the new CPU. 🙂 I've got a new processor on the way myself. Going from a K6-2 350@400 to a K6-III+ 450. Then in the next month or so I plan on getting a Tbird 900 and a KT133A motherboard. Just waiting for the new boards to get the kinks worked out.

Nohr, I have seen no kinks in my new KT133a (MSI K7T-Pro 2A). It is happily running my 1Ghz T-Bird (from Russ at Compucheap) at 1.25GHz. Nothing kinky about that. Go for it. A little pencil lead and a good magnifying glass, some Arctic Silver and away you go.

(disclaimer - your mileage may vary. Russ could only get his 1Ghz T-Bird up to 1.2GHz)

The MSI K7T Pro 2-A is a KT133 board, not KT133A. MSI's only KT133A board is the K7T Turbo. Maybe you meant that one? What FSB do you have you chip running at?

Mine is the Pro-2A, not the Turbo. Ooops. The KT133 runs a FSB of 100Mhz with double data rate trickery. My SDRAM is running at 133, my processor is running with a 12.5 multiplier (1250 MHz T-Bird)

SiSoft Sandra 2000 says:

CPU Dhrystone is 3561 MIPS
FPU Whetstone is 1748 MFLOPS

ALU Memory Bandwidth is 455 MB/s
FPU Memory Bandwidth is 541 MB/s

I have no idea how a true KT133A would compare, particularly on the Memory Bandwith. Does anyone know???

The KT133A at the same speeds will perform near identical to the KT133 chipset. If you mean how will it perform when using the 133MHz FSB, that is something that is a little hard to guess.

After I got my 1.1g TBird I went to work and told everybody. Funny thing is they told me to stick it in my asss. Now that wasn't very nice. 🙂 At least here people were happy for me.

Of course, most of the people at work still ask me how to create a folder on the desktop. 😀

Got my K6-III+ 450 today! And the case fans and hard drive cooler I ordered. Currently running at 550MHz which does 951Kk/s. Nice improvement from the 777Kk/s it gets at default. I plan on trying for 600 but figure that's a bit too ambitious for the moment. 🙂
