New Printer Technology (Memjet)

I saw that article about 2 days ago. Looks interesting, but I worry about cost of repairs & reinking
since there will be printheads all over the page. And I just bought an HP7410 for $222 with tax.
So I won't be in the market for a new printer for several years. By then, we will see how well
this new Memjet idea is working.

This link has been over in the Gen. Hard. section for a while. Looks like they need to work on the label feeding - I see one peeled off inside the printer. At least it only held up printing for a fraction of a second... I wonder what happened to that label? Does it have a molecular disintegration label-eater in it as well? 😉

Yes this is a rerun of a previous thread---and quite possibly an advance in inkjet technology. Or alternately over hyped. But the point being, its already quite well known that an inkjet is the best, most versatile, and cheapest printing technology on the planet. But as long as groups of printer manufacturers decide that making inkjets that are consumer rip offs are in the manufacturers best interests, I see little hope that this will change soon---especially since the genius who thunk up the new technology has a track record of licensing the technology and the manufacturing hassles to the very companies that rip us off now.

Or to put it another way---I can buy top quality inkjet ink retail for under $100/gallon---the cheapest such ink is vended by OEM printer manufacters is about $2500/gallon when sold in OEM cartridge form. And many charge in excess of $10,000/gallon.

Whats left in your wallet? Are you feeling ripped off yet?
