New power supply increased CPU temps?!

Just upgraded my Enermax 330w PS to a 431w one (also Enermax). But I noticed the CPU temps on my T-Bird 1.2ghz CPU jump from the normal 96-106 deg F to 104-116! I was wondering if I somehow knocked the HS/F off a little so I reattached it. Same thing.
My mobo is an Abit KT7A-raid. Does somebody have the same experinece?

could the PS simply be adding more heat to the case than the old one?

I would try more ventilation to see if that has any impact - maybe run w/ the case open and a strong housefan pointed at the MB to see if there is any change...

Yes, I noticed the same thing after returning the Antec-400 watt to CompUSA and getting the Enermax 465-VE (FC) from NewEgg.com. Enermax is very hot to the touch, and its right side gets so hot that it seems hotter than the heatsink on the CPU!

I thought this was because it was sucking in heat from the CPU and throwing it out the back, but it shouldn't be as hot as the heatsink!.. Hmm. It is quieter than Antec, so I guess I will keep it..

The 330 watt seem to be as hot as the 431 watter. The only major differences I see are the readings in the 12volt line. The 330w one was always between 11.95 and 12.08volts while the 431 watt one is ALWAYS at 12.25volts.

it is most likely that the new psu is adding heat
on my old power supply, which was 200w, there was almost no heat at all. but my current one, which is 300w, the air being blown out by the psu is very warm.

We shouldn't have listened to everyone who was saying that a 400-watt PSU is required for a Tbird system, then we could've saved some money and would end up with a cooler system..

The reason why I upgraded is I will be getting a 1.4 T-bird soon (the 1.2 is going to a new project;)), plus I already have two, 40gig 7200rpm Maxtors and the usual CD drives, burners, PCI cards, etc... Anyway, the Swiftech MC462 I ordered arrived last Thursday so when I do get the 1.4, the Alpha PAL6035 is coming off. Are Sparkle 400w power supplies cooler running than Enermax?

Im putting together a dual P4 Xeon system and Supermicro requires you to use a 22A 12V PSU with an 8 pin AUx and a 4 pin AUX 12V power supply. I have to believe there is a reason they tell you to use that much power.. :) Perhaps to, with so many PSU manufacturers they have to recommend 400 watts as a general requirement knowing that the quality of many PSU is substandard and a Quality WELL BUILT and STABLE PSU may not require that much wattage. It also depends on what subsystems you are running as well, how many drives you run, video card you run, and how heavy the usage is of all those items at a given time.

Your temps may be up simply because your system is getting the power it really needed to begin with and the power hungry processor is working to full potential? :)

Fundamentally, if the ambient temperature inside the case rises, then all component temps will rise as well because the device cooling fans are using warmer air to begin with.

I replaced a 300 watt Sparkle with a 400 watt sparkle . . . and have regretted it. It is noisier and the ambient case temp is warmer, thus all component tems are warmer as well. Probably a 350 is about right. However, the 300 was doing fine.

The noise factor is greater than the temp factor when it comes to annoyances.
