New Power Supply Fan Smells like Burning

Been a longtime lurker here, have a quick question....

Just put together a new system and have had in the case about 4 days now. Today it smells like it's burning, the smell coming from the fan on the back of the case.

The case is brand new, exhaust is coming out the back is real hot, and that's where the burning smell is coming from.

Now I know usually when PS fans pump out that burning smell, it's usually a sign that the PS is going out.

But this is a new fan. Is that typical, like a burn in or something, with a new PS and fan? Or do I need to go back and get the PS changed?

Thanks.

I had the same problem. The fan blade smelled even before I installed it. It took months for the odor to go away but nothing was harmed.

edit: Fortron supply if that helps.

no it's not typical for PSUs to have a burning smell...suggest getting a different one unless everything else is working fine

Last time I had a burning smell coming from the computer, it was a wire that was melting from a faulty fan controller. Definitely check all the wires, make sure nothing is melting. Ya may also just have a faulty power supply. If it smells, something's wrong and it could be a fire hazard.
