Hinged at the bottom rather than the top. Classic Porsche feature.

They could have put a 15K tach on there, but its still gonna quit at around 8250...

I actually like the pedals.

Shifter being up there ROCKS... not as far to move to shift = faster upshifts and downshifts = :D:D:D

Yes, the pedals are like that on all F1 and CART and IRL cars that I know of, even as mentioned before in the Enzo, and the McLaren. It allows for better adjustability based on the drivers' needs.

And the shifter is way up there so your hands are closer to the steering wheel when you are done shifting. You don't want to move your right hand 24" versus 8" when shifting at over 100mph, although I believe that the CarreraGT comes with F1 paddle shifters.

Me wonders if they are going to come out with a "race" only version of this car, even more so lightened and striped in favor of true racecar purity. (A LeMans version of the car would be sweet).

BTW, I saved TONS of pictures from the Porsche site for background use. My god, I haven't been turned on by so many pictures in god knows how long!

I love the carrera gt and all, but the 911 is my baby :)

I don't know. After the unveiling of the MB SLR McLaren at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Carrera GT just doesn't seem that impressive. And from the rear it slighly resembles the Batmobile.

I'm sorry, but the Carrera GT ownz the SLR in looks...at least IMHO. The SLR looks too derivative and "busy." It just looks like a Mercedes SL that r@ped a catfish.

Besides, who gets a "supercar" with just an automatic transmission. That's the only tranny you can get. Leave it to Mercedes to drop a slushbox in a half-million dollar supercar.

The Aston Martin DB9 impressed me the most, but that's not really a car to compare to the Carrera GT. I guess I'm the sort of person who likes a balance between sport and luxury.

i don't like floor hinged pedals... too much like using thrustmaster pedals... dash mounted shifters suck too. ferrari for me please.

A) 10K is way past the redline for that car
B) Many supercars have pedals like that
