New pony in the stable

Well....almost anyway. I was all set for a brand new Mustang GT 5.0 (3.73 gears, brembo brakes, 6 speed manual), even had one reserved and ready for me to sign on the papers for. Until the slimy ass salesman neglected to tell me over the phone/email that Ford credit doesn't put out leases on GT's and its only a third party affair.

Once I made the 1.5 hour drive out to Galpin, he told me that little tidbit of information and put the Bank of the West sourced quote out in front of me. $2500 down......$499 a month + tax.....on a car with a price under invoice of 32600. I laughed, got up and left, sorry Ford, you just lost a sale.


Instead, I ended up with one of these for only slightly more per month.

Its only been a day and i've already gone through one tank of gas. Its nice to drive a real car again.

Ford doesn't lease them, its only through a third party bank with tons of BS fees and such added on. There was a $700 (processing fee) from Bank of the West that could not be taken off, etc.

This turned out to be cheaper per month anyway, I put 0 down on the 335i.

Will get some real pics when im not busy, its a pretty hell of a week. In the middle of a cross country move.

If that's a stick shift, the first thing you'll wanna do is swap out the CDV for a modified one. I think you can get rid of it altogether. But some dealers might consider it an issue if they have to do warranty work.

Nice. BMW has amazing lease deals and 335i are quick and easy to make even quicker. I would take it over a Mustang and with a lease you don't have to worry about the HPFFs or other issues/maintenance.

Had a bad experience with my Ford dealership when I was looking at GT's too, told them to fuck off. Seems I'm not the only one - if Ford wants to know at least partly why the Camaro is kicking their face in on sales they should start looking at their dealers and the bullshit they're pulling.

I know there are online lease centers that offer really competitive lease offers without the negative aspects of the 'preferred' third-party option you were given. Just curious...

Im slightly pressed for time so no I didnt. I saw leasecompare.com on a bunch of sites but it looked a bit off for me.

TBH I still like the mustang but that marks 2 bad experiences ive had a 2 different Ford dealers. None of the VW, BMW, Chevy, Audi places i've dealt with have been like that, its a bit disheartening.

Hell my BMW CA called me the day after to let me know that he went ahead and set up my BMWconnect service for me since he saw that I hadn't done it yet. Compare that to me having to pull teeth to get an answer from a ford dealer on the mustangs.

Was including 500 dealer cash, 750 e-certificate, under invoice by about 250 before all the rebates.

Interesting. You had a choice between 2 great cars, so I don't think you would have been disappointed either way, but shame on Ford for not being helpful.

I have 0 experience with Ford dealers, so I cannot speak for myself. I will say that my experience with both Acura and VW dealerships have been the best. I will be servicing my WRX at the local Acura/Subaru (yeah, odd combo I know) dealership. After getting some quotes around town, the guy at this dealership told me to get the car at the place with the better deal. His boss wouldn't approve a comperable price, and he told me that would be the best deal. You cannot beat service like that. He did say they would love to service my new car, and I do plan to go there because it is closer and the people who work there (both service and sales) are fantastic.

My experience with dealerships have been really hit or miss. I would hve done similar as you with that Ford dealership. I am not handing over serious money to douche-bags, plain and simple. There are always other dealers to go to that do want your business, and will treat you right.

Meh, Galpin sucks. I've heard bad things about the Ford side...and I can tell you the Honda side isn't any better. Its amazing to me they sell as many cars as they do.
