Where do they get the vote data?

Poll people?

I heard something the other day that made me think (may have been noted in this thread - I didn't read it all), that things will be different once behind a curtain, the theory is that many people that are being polled are saying the PC thing, that they are for Obama, for fear of being called a "racist", but will vote differently once they have the privacy of the voting booth. Possibility?

The only people I've seen pulling out this "racist" card are the McCain supporters.

No one is a racist who votes for McCain on the issues, and I haven't seen any Obama supporters say otherwise. (edit: although I'm sure someone can find a crazy, just like there's that old lady voting McCain because "Obama is an Arab.")

Plus, I can't think of any reason someone would feel compelled to "say the PC thing" or fear being called a racist while talking with a pollster over the telephone. That just doesn't make sense. Polling is effectively anonymous.
What you're talking about does have a name, the Bradley Effect, but its actual existence is not agreed upon. And expected record turnouts seem to indicate that it won't happen this election.

Now, granted, not everyone who answers a poll then votes the same when behind the curtain. There's nothing new about that. And the value of any single poll by itself is pretty much worthless. But when you have dozens of polls, taken daily and with data compiled over the course of months, and you average them together, then these tend to become very accurate.

What really skews poll data though is that not everyone who answers a poll actually votes. And that's the most important thing. No matter who you're voting for, get out there and vote. Failure to vote is as good as a vote for the guy you don't want.

If he knew the state was going to go blue why focus effort there that could be put to better use in another? That's just common sense. It does leave him open for a question like, 'Mr. McCain, why did you wave the white flag of surrender in Michigan'. Oh wait, only an idiot lipstick dipstick would say that. :p

True, but as pointed before, he finally turned his back on his own bill, and seemed to join the side of those bashing Hispanics. It is not McCain per se, is the republicans who preach the immigrant hate and McCain caved in to them. That's why McCain is in trouble.

I am Hispanic, and I could never vote for a party where many of its supporters are straight up haters and racists. Give me a Republican Party strong on national defense, fiscally responsible, and with none of this "anti-any other race that's not white" tendencies demonstrated by its supporters. Fuck that.

? eh? I know many LEGAL immigrants(of varying skin color/ethnicity) who are just as adamant about securing the border and enforcing the laws on immigration as the Republicans who you claim are racist. Are they racist too?

Very true. Anyone who has ever had to deal with US immigration (USCIS) knows it's a royal PITA. Between the ridiculous fees, confusing paperwork, frequent mistakes, and extended waiting it's a very unpleasant experience. As someone who's done it I am 100% against any sort of amnesty for illegals. They should go through the same screening and waiting and be required to pay for their processing just like everyone else. Why reward illegal immigration by granting amnesty while making legal immigrants not only pay their way but pay for illegals as well? USCIS processing fees pretty much doubled about 18 months ago by the way.

IMO they need to do 2 things... Secure the borders and make it much more difficult to come here ILLEGALLY. Fix the massive red tape going on in the USCIS and make it easier (less waiting, red tape, and money) to come here legally.

None whatsoever imo. Why would someone be PC or fear being labled a racist when these unsolicited phone calls come all hours of the day? If I were voting for McCain and a pollster called me, why would I possibly say I was voting for the other guy.. the person on the other end of the phone doesn't know if I am white, black, green, or purple.

Not true. Obama is not going to win North Carolina

Without North Carolina Obama loses.

Absurd. In fact, it's quite likely he'll lose NC and still win. He already has 313 electoral votes either firmly in his camp or leaning toward him, not including NC. You're just trying to vindicate your stupid and baseless Chicken Little prognostication over the past few months that he'll lose.
