New PIXAR Film: UP

The first preview I saw a while back made it look stupid, but the second, slightly longer one I saw before Watchmen actually made it look pretty damn cool.

I rarely see Pixar movies in the theatre though (Wall-E was an exception) so I'll probably just wait until it hits BD.

looks good, the first trailer they had made it look wayyy too kidissh...they missed a lot of the comedic features it has.

the second trailer made it look oodles better, I will go see it for sure!

pixar/dreamworks movies kickass.

It doesn't seem to be getting the same kind of play/hype that previous Pixar films got but we'll still go see it. Even a bad Pixar film is better than just about anything else out.

The first half of that statement is true anyways.

Dreamworks animated movies are quite hit and miss.

I watched WALL-E last night on BD, and man, the quality was awesome. They had a short preview for UP before the menu screen. I'll probably see the movie...

Which were you thinking?

That last mouse movie sucked but I don't know who made it...

Shrek though was a classic by Dreamworks.

Bolt? That was made by Disney Animation Studios, not Pixar. The same ones that did Meet the Robinson's.

Shrek though was a classic by Dreamworks.

Shrek - Good
Shrek 2 - Crap
Shrek 3 - Crappier
Shark Tale - Complete Crap
Madagascar - Eh
Over the Hedge - Eh
Bee Movie - Facepalm
Kung Fu Panda - Hilarious
Madagascar 2 - haven't seen but will because of my kids
Monsters Vs Aliens - haven't seen but want to see

Don't forget Flushed Away (which I think may be the "mouse movie" Tweak155 was referencing?) . Though that was a coproduction with the Wallace & Grommit people. It was ok I guess, but quickly forgettable.

I'll be there, for sure. I'm a fan of Pixar and everything they do. They're a wildly talented group of animators, and their stories are very original and touching.

If every movie studio in Hollywood held their standards as high as Pixar does, there'd be a box office hit in the theaters every other week. Sadly, most movie studios are total fail.

I trust this will be their 10th consecutive smash hit. Something no other studio has achieved.

Ah. That was from Aardman Animation. The same ones that did the brilliant Wallace & Gromit shorts. I know that Dreamworks distributed both the Wallace & Gromit movie and Flushed Away but I wasn't sure whether to include them on that list.

Ya, Shrek was good, and I liked Shrek 2. Their others are all bleh, except for Kung Fu Panda. Kung Fu Panda was utter GENIUS. I LOOOVVVE that movie; so much so that I took everyone I know to watch it (watched it 3 times in theatre, and I have the bluray 😛). Maybe being a Jack Black fan helps too 😛. I'm like the only person that likes the guy (c'mon... School of Rock? That movie was quite good).

As for UP, no one can pass up a movie from the creative minds that brought us all these gems from Pixar. I'm watching it.
