The inquirer has shown two screen shots on PIV Celeron. The CPU string is read "Northwood256",but SandraSoft detect it as "512K"
Does the PIV Celeron really to get 512K L2 cache?Could it be a software mistake? But the performance lseems it is as fast as a PIV B-Northwood!

If it did have that much cache, what would the difference between a P4 Celeron and a P4 Northwood be?

That's a good point. I guess it's a software error. I remember when I play with x86 assembly langugae last year, the Intel processor can't read the cache sizes from the CPUID instruction, but AMD can. I don't know how SiSoft works that 512K L2 out. The strange thing is if it's indeed a 256K L2 processor, how come the performance is on par with a 512K L2 one?

Well, have they got the same clock speed? Same Front Bus Speed? Which benchmark was used?

Can you tell that I haven't read the article?;)

Probably Sandra thought it was a P4.

I wouldn't mind seeing some 256KB L2 Celerons, though. :)

Even if its within 5% of the P4-B I'd go for it - unless of course they don't overclock any better than a 1.6A....

Or maybe it's a fake.......they may have taken a P4 Northwood and tried to pass it off as a Celeron.
