new Pioneer DVR-A04, Q about the burn time

Hi, saw the new Pioneer DVR-A04 DVD writer...

something i don't really sure..

for cd writer, if it is 2x, it takes 40minutes to burn a 74min disc(650mb)

for this dvd writer, it is also 2x.. hmm... does it use something different?

cuz it will take forever to burn a 4.7GB disc

DVD writer 1x is equal to CD Burner 9x

So a DVD writer with 2x is equal to CD Burner 18x

It takes roughly 20-30min to burn a 4.7GB DVD

so this drive is still a slow drive... (hehee, i can burn cds in 5 minutes)

i heard someone said that a dvdrom(disc) can only read by itself.

so only its mother can read. u can't bring the disc and read by another dvdrom(drive).

am i right or totally make non-sense?

You have to remember, a DVDR is 4.7GB while a CD-ROM is only 700MB. A DVDR is almost 7 times bigger then a CDROM. This is why it takes so much longer.

As for DVDRAM disks, i don't know.

Not at all, I have a DVR-A04 and DVD-R discs read fine in my notebook DVD drive, DVD-RW discs are another story.

Yes but it would take you 6 CDs and 35 minutes (plus time to swap CDs and pick the next set of 700M worth of files) to burn what I can on one DVD-R in 20 minutes.
