how did you get the background out of the original picture so well (I know it was done in photoshop, but how?)
 
Yeah, I think I tried it but it didn't work as well as seen here. I'd really like someone to spend an hour with me, in person, showing me all the tricks and stuff.

It will take alot more than an hour to really teach the program to someone, it's just such a huge and powerful program. But I guess an hour could show you how to get rid of the background. Actually, 5-10 minutes. Just make a selection, that's all there is to it. You can make a selection a few different ways.

Do another selection on transparent background, but Shrink Selection by 1 pixel... to eliminate the "white border" on the selection. Just a tip.
