What possible value and point does posting screenshots of benchmark scores have when all info's relating to processor speed have been filtered?

These numbers can be achieved by anyone who owns a 940

Oh really? So they tested a couple hundred 940's and confirmed the OC'ing distribution is such that they ALL can hit the GHz needed with the touted zero-changes to Vcore?

Pssshh, Idontcare, you're way to scientifical. Embrace the hype, you know you want to.

But... Yeah.... Prebenchmarks, from a site I never heard of, with information nobody else has, about a processor that is still under an NDA.... mmmk. IMA gonna ignore everything I read about Phenom II until a site like Anandtech does an official review on it. No point in reading all the unconfirmable hype.

Ha ha, my old boss use to like to tell folks that I took the fun out of arguing  (cuz I rarely left an opening for him to counter my statements)

But yeah what I don't care for with these GHz-less benches is that for sure I have no doubt PhII at some clockspeed is capable of generating these benches. So too is PhI, and P4, and i7.

I can't think of a single context for the desktop segment in which knowing a benchmark score without knowing the clockspeed added value to the end-user. (servers are different, there you do find cases where simply knowing benchmark results and system price tells you all you care to know)

The site is a greek AMD officially authorized leak site. They've been up and down the news section on XS forums. Intel was no different in the i7 run-up from what I can tell, this isn't just AMD being special here.

I'm with you just waiting.

BTW did you change your avatar? I'm used to seeing the frowny/grumbly/disconcerted face avatar.

Intercore bandwidth has increased, intercore latency has halved, SuperPi @ 3.0 ghz is 23s, etc., etc.

 Now we're talking! Thanks for posting the link :)

I did, in honer of finishing a semester of college, I will now be reminded that I'll still be eternally in school, Especially After the discrete mathmatics class from hell.

Thanks for noticing.

What is the point of knowing the scores but not knowing anything about the processor. Sorry for sounding a bit dumb here but would even knowing at least the GHz tell us something more?

Also, these denebs look like a very good alternative to the 45nm Intels for the people who dont spend much.

O M F G  you just soooo made my day shabby!

That was freaking hilarious, I'm going to stop laughing sometime tonight but it's going to be a while.

That was brilliant.

edit: Oh lord I am still chuckling. The part where you blacked over even the tab names in CPU-Z... oh this is just priceless!

I just had to make that my sig. Never had a sig, but this was totally sig worthy. The random black strips across the desktop

Im still wondering about the stock NB clocks for deneb.

Man cant wait for official reviews! the CPU side of things are in a dire need of proper competition.

Blah...blacking out actual superpi benchmark scores, blacking out voltages. No screens to prove prime95 runs. All a bunch of crap.

Why is everyone kissing that guys butt when he posts a screenshot of superpi with no friggen scores!? Everything is blacked out. Bunch of fanboys I guess.

Maybe I just don't get the point of this. Or maybe I do, it is slower than expected and AMD don't want anyone to know maybe...

I did and it's pointless..absolutely pointless. Except the part where he said superpi 1M at 3.4Ghz is 19s. My Q9550 at 3.2 is 14s so meh...nothing to see anyway.

If you really read it you can put the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle.

For one thing I see a Phenom at load at around 4ghz running almost as cool as an I7at stock at idle and as cool as I7 at stock with about 25% load. The again we only know he says he is using air???? He could live in a really cold region???

Since when have AMDs ever done as good as Intel on SPi but have performed any other benches on par???? If an AMD hits 23 in SPi it most likely is a very quick CPU. It takes my X2 3.3ghz to hit high 26 and only hit it once, usually 27.

Would love to have that Klipsch system though!!!! Got a pair of KG2's sitting in my living room. They are old but they do a great job.

NDA??? NDA???? NDA?????
supposedly it will be lifted sooner than later.

Usually an NDA says you can't release any information or numbers until the date they tell you. I don't know the specifics of this current NDA, but I'd guess it says somewhere that you can't post on forums.

The source, oktabit (and poster dread77 on xs forums) are a sanctioned/authorized leak for AMD based out of greece (they openly admit it). Much as coolaler was for the lead-up to the i7 release.

There is no such thing as breaking an NDA, just viral marketing schema concocted to make it seem like there is a grassroots hardcore crowd that are rebelling against the authorities and letting benches out in the wild "despite the threat of NDA violation".

Meh then again this is useless. No hard facts, just marketing.

Sadly we really got to ask ourselves "has there ever been a leak that made a damn bit of difference to us in any regard?".

Personally I can't think of a single instance in which I read a rumor/leak/honest NDA gaffe that actually resulted in impacting my decision-making process for purchasing anything.

In regards to this specific thread's contents, since they do come from a legitimate sanctioned leak we can at least avoid wasting time/effort determining whether the results are fraud/photochop which has occupied many PhII threads to-date. So it isn't entirely useless.

But the facts are indeed dribbled out to the public in a fashion that is intended to keep the data as useless to the reader as possible so as to not undermine the "value-add" that reviewers such as Anandtech are intended to generate via nearly-free advertising the day of NDA release.

Leaks and reviews are all part of the nearly-free advertising aspect of marketing's strategy at just about every company, and since we readers get the info for free in all cases it is a buyer-beware situation (you get what you pay for).
