New Pentium in old server?

I've got a Dell SC430 Server running 24/7 with a Pentium D935 CPU which I presume will be chewing up the power.
Can anyone advise if the more efficient Pentium E series or similar CPUs will work on this board (Intel E7230 chipset)?

While anything is possible, it's extremely unlikely. That chipset was released 18 months before the C2D chips were released, and Intel released a new server chipset, along with the C2D's. I tried looking for a CPU support list on intel.com, but it doesn't seem to exist for that chipset. Here's the page with all of the information on that chipset.

Thanks myocardia. It was just a thought.
While it was good through winter to have this 'heater' in my daughters bedroom, I'd like to reduce heat output and power consumption as summer approaches but without spending a fortune.
More research required...

I went to the Supermicro site, since they have 5 boards based on the chipset, and they all explicitly state "Will not support E2000 processors" (The Core 2 based Pentium line).
So yeah, doesn't look like it will play nice with Core 2's.

Thanks Lonyo, I keep coming across the same so it looks like I'll try to sell it on and build something specific.

you can build a great system for next to nothing these days...

~ $60 for a decent p35 mobo
~ $100 for a very strong dual core intel cpu
~ $30 AR for 2 gb ddr2

heck, we just bought 4 computers at my office, they're all e7200 dells with vista business and 2gb ddr2. cost? $500 shipped, or $620 with 19" ws monitors. ridiculous...
