I bought my Pentax K20D quite some time back but due to work have not had time to properly use it until now. It must be several months since I bought the camera. I made a post about it some time back when I first purchased it. Anyway today I finally had some time to go out and snap some pictures. I'm not at all used to the camera yet, my previous camera was a Canon G2 and I need to spend quite a bit of time getting used to the new camera and taking pictures with SLRs in general. I've been very eager to get into amateur photography for a long time and have been semi into it for several years just haven't been taking all that many pictures. Anyway here is a small gallery of photos that I took today:

These pictures were taken on the road up to Whistler from Vancouver where I live. It's about an hour to 2 hour drive. Pics are resized to 1600x1200 for the web originals were taken at 14mp in highest quality JPG. Not used to RAW mode yet but I plan to shoot in it for some occasions. edit and of course stupid photobucket resized them to 1024x768.

Here are 2 galleries of previous photos that I took with my Cannon G2. These are some of my favourite photos taken over 3-4 years of owning that camera. There are much better shots in here than in the above gallery of course:

Please take a look at all the galleries and let me know what you think. Keep in mind that I'm really new to this.

update:

Another batch of pictures I took today. These were in Stanley Park at Beaver Lake and a few at the end in Chinatown.

SWEET! I always wanted to see what this Pentax and it's 14MP sensor are capable of.

is that with the kit lens?

Yes

Judging by some of the EXIF data - I'd say you're probably shooting with the 16-45mm lens?
If so, that's not the 18-55 "kit lens".
Regardless, nice pics. I'm still very happy with my K10D.

Also, if you use the timer a new firmware has been released for the K20D:

Yes sorry your right it isn't the kit lens but the 18-55. When I bought the camera there were a couple of options to select from one was the kit lens and this another. I decided to go for a wider angle lens because I like taking architectural stuff and because at some point down the road I wanted to get a macro lens so it seemed like a good idea to have one at each end of the spectrum (well a little anyway).

no worries, just so others don't get confused. the 16-45mm lens is supposed to give better IQ than the kit lens. but those are some nice pics
