New PC's RAM and HD Question

I'm planning to build a new pc and I'm going for the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum w/ an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (939). I was thinkin to get a new SATA HD and I was wondering if it would work with an IDE HD? I don't mind my IDE HD being like a slave so i can just dump files on it or something.

Lastly, what RAM would you all recommend (probably some rendition of VALUE ram cause I don't plan to O/C at all).

Thanks in advance.

Corsair or Mushkin value RAM is fine.

Many people here report lots of problems/issues with MSI boards, so consider the Epox NF3 board (9NDA+ something I don't remember).

As for using PATA in conjunction with SATA, I don't think there would be problems.

Actually, the reviews of the Neo2 state specifically that SATA / PATA drives integrate seamlessly together through the bajillion or so controllers on the mobo. In fact, the integration is tight enough to support a RAID array that spans both types of drives simultaneously.

FYI, I noticed that dumpinggoods.com (low reseller rating) and newegg.com are both selling refurb Neo2s for $90 and $110, respectively. I'm holding out another 2 weeks for the Neo4, especially because it's FSB can be super overclocked. Good luck!
