im building the following system and want to know if this should run most current games decently:

amd athlon xp 2400+
shuttle an35n-ultra nforce2 motherboard (using integrated audio)
512mb pc2700 kingston ddr ram
ati radeon 9600np
maxtor 120gb 8mb 7200rpm eide hard drive
liteon 4x dvd +/- burner

i was on a budget which is why i went with pc2700 instead of pc3200 ddr.

i really dont like the liteon LDW-411S (dual format 4x burner) the first one i owned burned nothing but coasters (and that was with the newest firmware) i tried 5 different brands of dvd-r media and 2 types of dvd-rw media (i didnt try any dvd+r media) one of the dvd-r media was ritek g04

i figured the drive must be faulty so i returned it, and the new one did the same :(

the LDW-440d (dual format 4x burner) is a totally different drive (a rebadged sony DW-U14A) so that one should work great

my pioneed A05 and A06 work great!!!

Not bad, I would've gone with the 2500+ Barton.

I also don't liek the Shuttle AN35N... I told my dad to order it to replace my Epox 8K7A (whose agp slot broke). Got the Shuttle AN35N and the AGP slot broke after 15 minutes. (i have 4 agp cards, and none of them worked..so it's def the agp slot). oh well, if no problems.. good comp.

yeah, i would have gone with the 2500+ barton or higher, but im actually building this system as a christmas gift and was trying to minimize costs.

i will be crossing my fingers that the agp slot doesnt have any issues when i build it. it seems to have gotten decent customer ratings. and my main reason for getting it was because the person, for some strange/odd reason, has a fondness to blue which the shuttle mobo PCB is.. :p
