just built a new pc. I used some older parts. I set it up ok and got into windows. I installed all the necessary software and everything seemed ok. I started to watch tv and after about 20 mins my pc just shut off. now it won't power back on.
specs:
athlon xp 3200
*artic cooling slim silent pro tc
512mb kingston value ram
foxconn KT400 mobo
*300W power supply
2 optical drives, 1 HDD
Radeon 9800 pro
I starred the hsf and psu because i think one of those may be the problem and i carried them over from my previous comp. Also the HSF is only rated up to 3000. I hope i didn't make a noob mistake since there is only a 100mhz clock difference between a 3000 and 3200.
when i plug in the pc, the link light on the on board lan lights up. however when i press the power button, the cpu fan moves a bit like its trying to start up but can't.
Hopefully i just need a more powerful PS and didn't fry my chip. It definetly doesn't smell like burning, i know that smell from previous experiences.
I tried flicking the switch on the power supply, unplugging all drives, reseating everything. My friend is bringing down his 400W power supply tomorrow night.
