my old speakers died, so im looking at new replacements.

option 1 is to get my own setup. right now im eyeballing the following:

receiver
speakers (x2)

looking at 309.97 with free shipping from newegg.

option 2 is to get the swan speakers M200MKII for 229.99

your thoughts? i live in an apartment so SPL is not my goal. the sony receiver would be giving the polks 100w each, i have never had a monitor/receiver setup, and expandability is not important since they will be used as computer speakers.

my main purchasing points are value, range, and sound quality.

Those Swans are really nice. If you don't need 5.1 or anything, they're definitely a good option.

I'd look at it this way-if you get the Swans (and don't need 5.1) that is almost certainly the last set of computer speakers you will get for years. Go on some of the audio sites and look at their reviews-top notch. And that is a pretty amazing price for them.

I've been using the M200 MKIIs for a couple weeks now and I think they're quite nice.
