New PC set up problems (Pls Help)

Hi all, I just setup my new pc yesterday. I've got the following questions:

1. My master drive is now assigned as drive E and my slave drive is C and dvd is D.
How do I reassign my master drive to C,slave drive D and dvd to E ?

2. The hdd light is blinking non stop though there isn't any apparant hdd activity going on. It's like only 0-2% cpu useage. Of all the programes i've installed, only reg cleaner seems to have a problem loading up,the others are fine. Why is this so? Thanks in advance

3. My task manager's user name column is blank except for the 1st line ,only system idle process has SYSTEM in the user name column.

4. My WD 320GB (Master Drive) is listed as IDE 1 in bios. How do i use it as sata2 instead of IDE?

1. Make sure you have your drives in the order you want on the IDE channel such as IDE1: Master 1 and Slave 1 and then IDE2 Master 2 and Slave 2. I dont know if you have SATA or if its any different anyway. Also, make sure your jumpers on the drive are on the right prongs (There should be a diagram for the jumper placement on each drive).

2. What do you have installed?? Did you get it from Dell or any other place that preloads stuff? If not, just give your new pc some time to arrange itself.

3. Are you running Win 2000?

4. Oh THATS why there is constant blinking on the HD. You have a large hard drive.... To change to SATA2, just connect it to the SATA wire and then connect that to your mobo. It is a SATA drive isnt it? No, its not, because its IDE. So you need a SATA Hard Drive, not an IDE drive., which is what you apparently have since you say you are hooked up to the IDE cable. Also, make sure your motherboard supports SATA if its not very new.

Not yet resloved, the hdd led light in the front of the casing still blinks. My wd 320gb hdd is already connected with the sata wire to the mobo. the old other old ibm 10gb is connected to the ide cable.
