a7nx8 deluxe mobo
amd xp 2800
thermalright slk900a with some UV fan i got from svc (80mm)
two 80s in front of case (lian li pc82)
two 80s in back
all round cables

running 54C at idle 🙁

Flashed to newest BIOS? What kinda thermal paste? Thin layer of it? Heatsink mounted properly? Fan specs?

make sure layer between cpu and heatsink is thin, very thin.
does the case impeed airflow? doesn't matter how many fans you hve it they blow through teenie holes. does that m/b have a tendency to misreport temps..the socket sensors aren't that hot from what i remember, mostly good for general/relative readings.

whats the ambient temp?

74f ambient here 45c idle 49 load cpu slk 800 with zalman low rpm fan, but clocked at 2.4ghz. other case/hd sensors report 26-28c

round cables help only a little. zipties and cable folding/routing has about the same result. most important is size of case/clutter fans, and where and how much the fans direct their air.

Yup, I guess thats what it was. I guess I'm lucky i didn't crush the core or fry the cpu...

running at a cool 35 degrees now.

thanks everyone
