New PC Rig

Hey guys, I currently own a Dell 2350 which i've had for a while and it works pretty good (I put in some upgrades) i'm looking to build my own PC. Not sure yet whether its gonna be an AMD or Intel Rig so i have 2 rigs set up and if you guys could help me decide which is better bang for buck.

Current:
p4 1.8 400Mhz FSB
768MB PC2100 RAM (upgrade from 256MB standard)
Hitachi 160GB IDE (upgrade from 40GB standard and will prob use in the new PC)
Nvidia FX5200 PCI 128MB Video (upgrade from Intel Extreme Crap)

what will you me doing on this rig? gaming? if so, go amd. if you do lots of multi tasking, and encoding, get the intel, but make sure you have good cooling for it.

It will be gaming and i do multitask but i plan on keeping it for a while (hence the 2GB of RAM...). It will also be used for some programming. theman, what cooler would you reocmmend for the pentium D and also would you change anything about any of the setups?

I chose the 3700 over the 3200 for the extra cache to help in gaming, but especially in the multitasking. Originally I had a 6800gt, but to fit your budget I put the 6600gt. If you can, look at the ATI x800xl. They go for around $250. And all you need is value ram for A64, because of the memory controller on the chip. The xp-90 is one of the best heatsinks around, paired with a 92mm Panaflo fan, which is pretty quiet.
