Just got a new PC

AMD XP 1600
ASUS A7N266-VM nforce 220 mobo
256 PC2100 ram
40 gb Western Digital 7200 RPM hd

This computer runs really really sluggish in Windows XP. For example, if I have two IE windows open and am using AIM, when I switch between AIM and IE, the computer will completely freeze for like 15 secs with the HD swapping data like mad. Sometimes, the whole computer will look up and reboot itself. I used the NTSF filing system to format my HD. I also have 32mb of my ram set aside for the intergrated Geforce 2MX video. I tried the new nforce drivers from the nvidia website but still no luck.

Can my CPU be overheating? It idles at between 100-110 degrees. I also have a pretty big heatsink/60 mm fan on the CPU plus two 80mm case fans (one intake/one exhaust)

I really donno what is wrong. anyone wanna help?

i don't have any experience w/ the nforce boards but i can tell you that "overheating" is not your problem, those temps are pretty good.

did you JUST install Win XP on your computer ? if you just did a fresh install then i'd recommend doing 2 things. one you already did, update the video drivers. and then make sure that you update windows all the way. oh yeah, also check for any BIOS updates for your board.
