New PC quit working suddenly...help?

I just finished putting together an Opteron 148 system. MSI k8n neo4 mobo, Radeon x700 video card, 1gb Corsair ram, etc

Everything was working fine. I was installing WinXP and it was 75% done formatting the harddrive when the system suddenly shut off completely. Now when I go to turn it back on there's no video on my monitor at all. The monitor light just stays yellow like it's on standby. All the fans come on but the CD drive won't even open.

I have no idea where to start here. Any ideas?

I have that same case, but I didn't use their PSU. I have a 500W Thermaltake; but I don't know if that's the problem.

My guess would be that you some how fried your motherboard.

Take out the CPU and turn on the power. If the motherboard beeps, then it's still alive. If not, then you'll probably need a new MoBo.

I had this same problem where all of my components would turn on: fans, HD's, fans on my gFX cards, etc., but no picture and the POSTing or beeps from the motherboard.

The solution to my problem: Took the motherboard back to compusa the same day and got a new one. Works fine now.

i don't think you fried it cause it wouldn't even run if you did (at least i don't think it would) but i do think it is a motherboard problem
