New PC problems, thinking it all stems from my A8N-SLI Deluxe

I recieved the parts for my computer yesterday. Athlon64 3000, A8N-SLI Deluxe, Corsair ValuRAM 2x512mb PC3200, eVGA GF6600GT (1), along with an Enermax Noisetaker ATX 370W Power Supply. The first problem I encountered was that the motherboard required a 24pin connector instead of the 20 pin connector the power supply I ordered had. Realizing my mistake, I went to the closest PC Club and got a 20 pin -> 24 pin exention. After I got that hooked up and installed my CPU ,my RAM and video card, I turned it on. I got no video signal. I reseated my video card and made sure taht the RAM was in the right place. Everything was as it should be and still no video signal. So I took out the RAM to hear any beeps. There were no beeps and apon remembering that the motherboard gave vocal diagonstics, I hooked up my speakers. I heard nothing out of my speakers still with the RAM out.

The LED telling me the board is getting power is on and green. The CPU fan and video card fan all spin. Im not sure what to do short of RMA'ing it because im thinking theres a problem since im not hearing the voice diagonostics. I also thought it may be a power supply problem but I yanked the power supply out of another machine (20pin) and got the same results as with my new one. Any last suggestions?

Your PSU looks marginal, A8N-SLI (as do most NF4 boards) wants at least 18A on the 12v rail while your supply is rated 14A.

Check out the threads dealing with dual rail supplies vs NF4 boards for more info.

.. as stated by Gadget Builder.. the psu is marginal ...

however; first make sure the SLI selector card is correctly oriented... I seem to remember some of these boards coming shipped with the card in the SLI position... which wont work in your case using only 1 video card...

assuming that's ok..
1) try taking out the CMOS battery .. and clearing
2) if no good.. try disconnecting the hard drivers and optical drives to reduce the load on your system to see if it may be PSU related...
3) doublecheck the seating of the cpu/heatsink..
4) try booting with 1 stick of memory in the B1 slot

if all else fails then i would try booting with the board out of the case, with just the CPU, 1 stick of memory and the monitor .... to rule out some type of shorting problem

Actually, with the SLI selector in the dual position, a single video card will work in either slot. The card would be limited to 8x but there wouldn't even be a performance hit with that card.

One more thing to check...be sure you have the 4-pin atx +12v power plug properly connected to the motherboard.

As mentioned above, I would remove everything but cpu, ram, and video card to test. Don't even plug in USB, firewire connectors, floppy drive, cd/dvd etc.
