New PC Power & Cooling's Silencer Mk II 750W reviewed.....and found lacking...

The new PC Power and Cooling Silencers are starting to be reviewed by reliable review sites......the Silencer Mk II 750W reviewed at Hardware Secrets. And

It was found to be rather lacking, to be diplomatic about it, and was soundly trounced by the Corsair 750HX and OCZ's own Fatality 750W units in overall electrical performance, including ripple/noise control, voltage stability, and efficiency.

Guess PCP&C is now just a name to charge more for. Shame that OCZ has just completely destroyed what was once a good brand.

PCP&C used to be my go to PSU when building a reliable 24/7 computer or server, was that way for 10+ years and they never let me down. Now that OCZ owns them i can see the quality really going to hell and stpped buying them as soon as they sold. Now i use Corsair or Seasonic in all my builds, will use Antec in lower cost units but wont go below that for quality.

Moved from PPC&C to a OCZ power supply while it worked fine the voltages were not stable compared to my PPC&C one...now choose a Corsair HX750....wish I snagged the HX850 now.

Bought my HX750 two weeks ago at $139. The HX850 was full price...now they are $139 and $149....

I wouldn't really worry about the glued cap being glued in place....

I'd worry about why the extra cap was needed on the +12V rail, as compared to this unit's twin, the OCZ Fatality 750W, and it apparently did absolutely no good at all.

well obviously p&c wasnt making enough money.... their supplies might have been the best but they were too expensive for 90% of the market.

but it sucks we cant buy those top-notch supplies anymore if we want to. at least seasonic is still around and still very good...

I'll hang onto my Silencer from their own designs as long as I can.

You do understand PCP&C did NOT design any power supply they sold, just were given OEM designs that were tweaked to meet the specific specs (electrical performance, 80mm fan, fixed cables) PCP&C had. In most cases, PCP&C power supplies were practically indistinguishable from the original OEM design from Seasonic (Silencers)/Win-Tact (TurboCools).

Here are my beauties. Used to have a Silencer 610w too, but I upgraded to the 910w for more dual graphics card headroom.

The PC Power and Cooling power supplies used to be the only ones I would ever buy or whole heartedly recommend.
