ill be assembling a new pc in a month or two, and wanna get a head start on the specs
it doesnt seem amd will get a counterpart ready, so intel based.
- low speed kentsfield (so its overclockable)
- a P35 chipset, could be Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 (natural ~30% oc switching to 1333fsb)
- 4GB ram
- Raptor disc as main, some TB drive as sotrage
- some nvidia loving, problary not top notch, lowend 8800 or lower
- problary dualbooting ubuntu64 and xp32
Along those lines, what im really questioning is the chipset cpu and ram configuration..
- i am aiming at overclocking
- does the cpu / chipset stack up ? does it make sense compared with the ram ? ddr3 is still pretty steep, i dont wanna shell out that kinda $$ for 4 gigs of mem .. can i oc it to hell with ddr2 (or is the 1333fsb only viable with ddr3)? what kind/brand should i be looking at?
- i will be able to utilize 4 cores (loving threading as a coder), AND the memory too..
Comments very much appreciated.
