Kind of doing this 3rd person. Hopefully its an easy fix and someone understands what I'm saying.

A friend has been running a Pentium 2 PC since a week ago. Some friends just put together a new PC. She had family photos, resumes, etc. saved on the HDD of the old PC.

She swapped the new HDD into the new PC and set it up as Slave.
Post / Windows detects the drive. You can access the folder structure of the 2nd drive, but cannot see the actual files.

There is the typical "Shared Documents" folder and the folder she created, "Life".

I won't be able to see this first hand for a few days, but am not exactly sure what would restrict you from seeing the actual files - but recognize the folder. There is no warning, etc. It just displays an empty folder. I suggested just swapping it back into the old PC but apparently the old PC is no longer.

It's a stretch - but any ideas?

Thanks.

Not sure what the problem is, but it is possible Windows doesn't see the files as being owned by the user on the new computer. Here is a Microsoft data base article on how to get around this problem -- if it is indeed the problem your friend is having. I also suggest downloading and trying the trial version of Digital mediaRescue. I have used a version of it to recover photos on a Sony memory stick for a friend who found herself locked out of her photo file.
