i tested both sticks of ram separately as well...i get no post and no picture...so either its the video card, or im missing something...im testing outside the case with a stock 420w psu and the motherboard is getting power...as are the individual components

any ideas?

are you getting any beeps or is it just quiet with no video?

try testing it with just the bare minimum - mobo, cpu, ram and video card
also, make sure the video card is properly secured

no anything...everything is powered, ie spinning...i reseated the vcard and ram...and d/c'ed the optical and hd...same deal...

i wish i had a pci vcard to try...but all i have is agp

just a cheap aspire...but with just those few components attached, it shouldn't be an issue

i have a noisetaker 420 but its already in the case and it'd be a total pain to hook it up...so id like to eliminate the other possibilities first...heh

Haha I didn't exactly the same thing when I put together my new system last week! I had never seen a seperate power plug for the CPU before so it sort of caught me off guard. I was close to asking for help on AT but decided to read the mobo manual first 😛

heh, i was about to type to check that. that happened to me when i first got my system. ended up having to go buy a new psu since my current one didnt have the 4 pin 12v connector needed for an Athlon 64 or Pentium 4 or higher.

Man, hope I dont make this mistake (considering how much time I have been waiting for my PSU which has the right connectors for my new motherboard, I would hope I remember them)
