New PC - No HDD Detected

After we figured the GPU problem out, my brother started installing Vista. He arrived at a screen asking for him to select a Hard Drive, but his PC isn't detecting his for some reason.

Now, forgive me if I don't have the PSU terminology down correctly, but to his WD750GB HDD, we have a SATA cable stretching from the front panel of his PC attached to it as well as a flat (presumably) SATA cable from his PSU attached to it. I define the SATA cables as the long-thin "hook-shaped" connectors. Now, the first SATA cable from his front panel is purely red, such as the ones you would plug into the RAID ports on the motherboard.

On his HDD, there is also a space where an eight-prong connector would fit, but we cannot find one of those cables anywhere in his PC. It's possible he is overlooking a cable stuck in a package somewhere, but at the moment, we are clueless.

Can anyone tell if this is configured correctly, or are we missing something?

As for the error code, it appears as the first thing on the screen when we boot the PC. I checked the BIOS and only his DVD Drive is being detected under SATA 2. SATA 1 has detected nothing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The drive needs two cables. One goes from the PSU and gives the drive power. The other connects to the SATA controller port on the motherboard. The drive won't work unless both are connected properly. There should have been at least one (sometimes two) SATA drive cables included in the motherboard box.

Took a second look at it and I had the wrong SATA cable plugged into the HDD. So that problem is fixed, but we are still getting the error code. What's that about?

What kind of motherboard is it, and what's the label for the motherboard SATA jack that the drive's connected to?

i assume that u have connected the cables correctly. now when u turn on the pc plz check whether the HDD is vibrating or making sound or heating up. if not (which i suppose will happen) then either ur PSU cable or ur sata cable is damaged. try it out with different cables.
