Hey everyone,

Before i get started i wanted to thank all the experts on this forum. I have learned a lot.

Ok, my rig will be for gaming only and i do plan on overclocking the cpu and maybe the gpu. I play Warhammer, COD4 and UT3

Specs:

Case: NZXT TEMPEST Crafted Series CS-NT-TEM-B Black Steel

Mobo: ASUS P5Q SE LGA 775 Intel P45

GPU: ASUS EAH4850 TOP/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB

Power: PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40°C

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS 250GB 7200 RPM

OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit English

CPU Fan: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm

I am not sure about the GPU. I have read hundreds of reviews and it seems i cant go wrong with either the 4850, 4870 and the GTX 260.
Two Questions:

1. is it wroth getting 1g memory over 512mg on a gpu?

2. I plan on gaming on a 21 or 22 inch LCD. would the 4850 be better then the 4870?

Thanks in advance.

edit: forgot to mention my price range: 1000 - 1500

1. It makes a difference mostly if you're gaming at much higher resolutions. If we knew what resolution you were playing at it'd help. I'm going to assume 1680*1050 from your monitor. A 1GB 4850 doesn't seem to offer much according to reviews, but the 1GB 4870 seems to do very well with the larger frame buffer.

2. 1GB 4870 would probably be better for you.

HDD: If you're interested in more storage and a much faster drive, the Western Digital Caviar 640GB isn't too expensive.
RAM: G.Skill DDR2-1000 is like $90 on newegg at the moment.

Very well researched build, it seems.

No reason not to get the better HDD with your budget.

How much are you paying for the PCP&C supply?
