hey, i'm new here and i basically joined so i could get some help with this problem. i just built a new PC using some of my old parts. i have a new
A64 3800+
asrock dual939sata2 mobo
ew 450w psu
new seagate 160gb sata2 hdd.
i'm also using my old ram (two 512MB ddr333 sticks)
and my old audigy2ZS gamer
as well as my old 9800PRO AGP8x
the system build went fine and the PC is awesome, however i found out that after i play games for some time (like 45M-1H), my PC will lock up and i hear this crazy electrical sound come from the speakers. i noticed that the temp is around 40-42C when this happens. i am using the stock heat sink that came with my processor, although i have ordered a venus12 already. i replaced the fan on my video card, and my case (the old alienware case...its huge) has 4 fans, 2 in the back and 2 in the front.
i downloaded lavalys everest and ran the system stability test and stressed the CPU, and once the temp got to 42C sure enough the PC locked up and that crazy electric sound came frmo the speakers. 42C doesnt seem hot enough for the system to lock up, but it appears that's what happening..? the heat sink also doesn't feel very hot either..
i have updated my bios to the latest version, and i'm using the latest video drivers. i have also installed the "cpu drivers" that came with my motherboard...and i have even tried running the PC with the case open.
any help would be extremely appreciated, as i am very frustrated because this is a new PC (for the most part).
