I am techsupport for the local new york city area. My typical role is to correct software issues and fix hardware as needed. Its been several years since i have upgraded my own computer.
My current pc workhorse is an AMD XP Proc at 2.13ghz and 1 gb Crucial ram, Xt850 Platinum Edition, 1.5 terabytes of HD space built in early 2001.
Its been very reliable thus far and offered great performance playing F.E.A.R. halflife2, COD, COD2, Return to Castle wolfenstein, Unreal tournament 2004 and quake4. As you can see i play some games and lately have been focused on video editing
I would like to upgrade to stay current with technology and compiled the following parts for its replacement:
Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo 2.4 gh Proc w/4mb cache 1066mhz
Sunbeam Tuniq Tower 120 Copper Base CPU Cooler
Crucial 2 GB DDR2 PC8500 Ballistic tracer Memory
Asus p5k3 intel p35 chipset atx Motherboard
LiteOn lh-20a1s 20x SATA super all write dvdrw drive (no lightscribe)
Seagate 320gb sata2 7200rpm 16mb hard drive
Antec Sonata III ATX mini tower case
Windows Vista Home premium 64-bit
Evga Geforce 8800gts superclocked 320mb pci-E video adapter
(reusing old usb keyboard/mouse)
I noticed there are no more pci, ps2 and PIDE devices used these days...
The case comes with an OEM Antec 500W powersupply however i am concerned if it will be able to handle the current configuration.
Is there any merit to upgrading the powersupply to a single or dual rail 600W version?
Have i left anything out? Any advise appreciated.... I rarely upgrade so I want to make sure i do it right the first time. Thanks
