hello all:

i have some new pc components coming soon, and have a few questions to ask of you.

the parts:

Iwill KA266 mobo
Tbird 1.2 Ghz cpu 266 fsb
256 Mb Crucial PC2100 ram (as soon as they officially offer it, that is)
Quantum Fireball + AS 40GB HD
ATI Radeon 32 Mb DDR LE
Thermaltake Volcano 2 HSF (see question #2)

question #1:

will these components combine - out of the box - without any modifications to fsb, jumpers, voltage, bios, etc. in other words, i'm not going to overclock (right now, that is) and i want to make sure everything is running at 266 (133x2) will i have to make any adjustment or not???

question #2:

since i am not overclocking, i bought the Volcano 2 HSF based on price and noise. the Volcano 2 has taken some beatings in the forums, but that is from people that overclock. do you think i am safe with this for now?? i will overclock in the future, and will address my needs at that time.

question #3:

I'm waiting for Crucial PC2100 based on quality and price. do you recommend any other manufacturer that has any in stock now, at reasonable prices??

thank you in advance for any advice that you can share. i am indebted to you all.

As far as I know the hardware should go together just fine, the volcano 2 would not be my first choice ( or my last, lol ) but its more than enough if you're not going to O'clock with it. As far as the DDR ram, have you looked at Muskin, they sell it decent, $169 for 128 I think.

thanx for your input. i know mushkin is good quality, but it is fairly expensive (IMHO)

i read a post that crucial pc2100 won't be available until april :( so i ordered some samsung memory from R&J Technology, in the interim. when crucial is available, i will probably order that to replace the samsung.

thanx again for responding.
