New pc build for 1920x1200 gaming

Ok I have finally saved the money necissarry to properly upgrade my system

I haven't upgraded in around 3 years so this will be a major step up

The PC is going to be used for gaming, work and watching videos. I have a 24" wide screen dell monitor so I know I need a video card capable of catering to my screen space.

My current albeit slightly ambitious build is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 x2 Crossfire

Thermalright HR-03-GT VGA Cooler x2 for the video cards

Asus Rampage Formula Intel X48

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular power supply

This is all going into my Antec 900 case and I am keeping my current hard drives.
I am also debating water cooling the whole system as I do have the intention of overclocking it. I am also unsure as to whether or not two 4870s will fit into the pc with those passive coolers attached.

The build may be a bit overkill at the moment I am unsure and am looking for advice to that end.
Currently its coming in at £1,043.31 from Overclockers.co.uk. If anyone knows a better site than them please share 😉

X48 only makes sense if you stand a good chance of moving to Crossfire 4870. If so, you might want to look at a 700 watt PSU (though 600 supposedly meets the minimum for 2x4870).

On the other hand, if you wait a little while you could buy this for about the same price:
P43 chipset motherboard
4870 x2 single card (so X48 isn't needed)

Well I am kind of planning to buy it with two cards already anyway.

I have heard talk about the 4870 x2 which looks promising but may be a bit of a long wait... no ideas on dates of that one. Also the 1gb 4870s may be worth a look?
