New PC Build (and soon)

My brother is moving (next week) and taking his PC with him. So I am looking to build a decent PC for about $1000. My main use for it will be content creation in Photoshop, Illustrator and such. I would also like to play some games once in a while. I would appreciate your opinions because I don't want to make any mistakes. Right now here is what I am looking at:

Pentium 4 2.8E GHz - $175
Abit IC7-G - $132
(2) Mushkin 512MB PC-3200 - $156
Western Digital 80GB IDE HDD, 8MB Buffer - $61
eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 - $299
Antec SOHO File Server Case (400W PSU) - $95
(2) Antec All Clear Pro 80mm Case Fans - $8.50

Total: 926.50

Your list looks good. If you can spare, spring another HD. For optimal performance, content creation applications like to have "scratch disk" on different physical hard drive separately from the HD with the OS/virtual mem/pagefile.

Looks fine for an Intel rig. Don't know whether A64, Northwood, or Prescott is best for the stuff you want, though.

Pretty decent, though you could pick up a Seagate 80GB for $40 AR this week from Best Buy online, and if you could find a 6800GT for a bit more than that price, that'd be a big upgrade. And if you use a P4 2.8C instead of an E, it should be a bit faster and a bit cooler too.

I will change to the 2.8C and should be able to pick up another HD. It looks like the Seagate's at Best Buy Online are out of stock. Also, Ionizer86, I have only seen the 6800GT for around $400. Could you recommend where I could get it cheaper. I am curious how much difference there is between the two. I notice that there is about a 300MHz difference in the speed of memory and it looks like the GT has DDR3. I am not planning on buying another PC for quite a while so I won't skimp if I don't have too. Thanks for the help.
