Quite possibly, could be password phishing.

Like someone said in another thread, actually type out the website in your search bar and if you don't see a message pop up or some other kind of message in your account somewhere, then there is no problem.

What's wrong with it? Link is the normal Paypal login link...

Unless the actual email had the link typed but a different link in the background... Which is what I'm assuming was done but the OP didn't bother to put that part in...

because no one knows how to make the link look correct but make it go somewhere else, right?

fake, I've gotten that before. Don't click that link, it is most likely a redirect. Forward it to spoof@paypal.com and they'll tell you whether it is real or not - odds are, it isn't.

its fake because of the "dear paypal member"
if it was real they would use your name or your account or something like that.

the link in the OP looks legit to me. it's on paypal's server. I'm guessing the OP copied the text and pasted it here, and it auto-linked the proper link.

but the original email is most definitely a scam. and nothing new

If the link goes the the correct server then it is legit.

Go to the email, if you click on the link provided there, it'll take you to some other site that's not paypal's.

AT just auto linked the text that you copied pasted....it's not masked like it is in your email.

Someone posted this exact same thing this morning.

Three rules:

1. Never click a link in an email.
2. Never click a link in an email.
3. Never click a link in an email.

Paypal FAQ.
Link

PayPal emails will address you by first name, last name, or business name, and NOT by Dear PayPal User or Dear PayPal Member.

Even then beware. You might get something like "Dear Bob" and that's your name - phishers will e-mail messages with random names in them, in the hopes that a few will find the "right" person.
