It's too bad EA isn't smart enough to change that damn bug with refresh rates in their updates. Design the game around a Windows XP bug, then don't even correct the issue after how many updates?

Yeah I get a "can't update incorrect version 1.4.0001. Please re-install BF1942" or something like that.

NETWORK/SERVER FIXES

-game.listPlayers will now display client IP addresses when run from
the server console

CLIENT FIXES

-Support for Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII expansion pack
-Land vehicles will not respawn if player is too close to spawnpoint.
-Def Gun now has shell icon instead of rocket.
-Fixed issue with using the mouse wheel as a control.
-AI skill no longer resets to EASY when browsing menus.
-Dropped kits stay on static objects such as bridges, houses, etc.
-Fixed issue with disappearing buttons after activating a custom game.
-Tooltips added for Def Gun, stationary MG42 and stationary Browning.
-Kits can no longer be picked up from a distance.
-Fixed force from explosions on vehicles which were sometimes wrong,
and caused vehicles to roll over.
-AI players don't count when voting in COOP.
-Possible to select position 4, 5 and 6 in aircrafts.
-Console background does not disappear after switching to main
menu.
-Changing camera view while shooting or leaving water works.
-CO-OP briefing text now displays the specific conquest type for each
map (Assault, Head-On or Hybrid)
-Names with line-feeds are now valid.
-Fixed floating exploit.
-Fixed first person animations, which sometimes stopped prematurely.
-Fixed crash when changing camera view under certain conditions.

incremental update failed to install. i just installed the full over it

OK, I installed the full update tonight because I NEEDED to play and now I am worried. I got into about 3 games, tried to join about 10 games. Each time I joined the game told me to insert the correct CD. Didn't matter if the map was BF1942 or RTR. I got "failed to connect to server" several times also.

Make sure you are using the BF1942 CD and not the Road to Rome CD. RTR CD wont work anymore I here.

One game I tried to join was running all Coral Sea. Had my bf1942 disk in and got the wrong cd message. Put in RTR and it started. It seemed totally random to me as far as which cd it was wanting me to put in for the check.

that sucks is some ways, all those damn plane campers will keep the planes from spawning, and on one german vs. american map I lie down where a tank will be until it spawns on top of me, if the flag is allies (I usually play allies) I take the tank if not I drop a landmine and back out from under the tank and hide.

BOB (updated version) and the other free maps (Aberdeen and Coral Sea) are included in the patches.

ah kewl... heh i'm not up to date because i only play it occasionally these days. i knew about bob back then but never got around to it till now, then i tried to install it and it whined about me having too new a revision of 1942 lol

I am starting to think this has something to do with ASE. Almost every time I try to launch with ASE I get the "failed to connect" . If I click OK and go to the in-game server browser I seem to be able to join without issues.
