Hi -- I recently installed a new mobo (Asus P8P67), a new cpu (i5), new ram (ddr3 1600), a new hard drive (wd black 2tb), a new dvd drive and a new vid card (6950). My existing components are the case and the power supply (seasonic s12).
At the first start-up, the monitor wouldn't come out of sleep mode. After checking and re-checking connections, I couldn't get the monitor (and a second I tried, including a second dvi cord) to come out of sleep mode. When I would push the power button, it would instantly turn off. When I powered it back on via the power button, it POST'ed and I was able to get into the BIOS. It recognized all 8gb of ram, the correct CPU and components. I proceeded to install Windows. When Windows auto-restarted, the comp never woke the monitor again. Somehow, I was able to get it to boot (it took maybe eight tries, each a different sequence). Inside Windows, I installed all drivers and programs and had to restart. It hasn't POST'ed since. This is where I am at now. Each time I was able to get the computer to boot, it was a random process, so I've never had a fool-proof way to get it to POST.
Would a faulty PSU cause symptoms such as this? I've tried each ram stick (2x4gb) in its own slot and by itself to try to rule that out, but no modified ram configuration worked. The BIOS and Windows both recognized the full 8gb when both were installed, for what it's worth.
This is my third or fourth computer install, and I update parts semi-regularly, however I am mystified.
Anyone have any help?
