New P4 not booting

I just bought a Pentium 4 2.5 ghz (533 FSB), along with a Asus P4T533-C motherboard and 256 mb Samsung RDRAM (1066 MHz).

I assembled everything to a minimal system (motherboard, CPU, ram) but when booting up, I hear no beeps (the manual says that a single beep will sound if all power-on checks succeeds). The CPU fan is running smoothly.

I tried installing my video card (NVIDIA GeForce2 mx) into the agp slot, but nothing appears at the screen.

Any help is _much_ appreciated.

Are you sure you purchased the correct ram?

Samsung sells 2 versions of 1066 RDRAM.
The P4T533-C requires 16-bit ram (1 notch), not 32-bit (2 notches)

Are you sure it's not the other way around? I looked up the part number of my Samsung RAM-block on their website:

From the image, you can see 2 notches.

By the way, I think I have solved my issue. I only bought one RIMM, but apparently you need to install RIMMs on this Asus board in pairs. But I'll first know tomorrow when I get my second block of RAM.

That doesn't make sense to me.

My P4T533-C motherboard has _two_ notches on the socket I place them in on the motherboard.

And, try going to this site:

http://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/DRAM/DRAM.htm

Click "32 bit RIMM" and choose a model. You'll see on the picture that it has _one_ notch.
Click "Normal RIMM" and choose a model. You'll see on the picture that it has _two_ notches.

More confusion:

When you go to the asus.com.tw P4T533-C specification, they have my RIMM module noted as one of their tested modules:

I'm sitting with the MR16R1628DF0-CT9 here in my hands. It has two notches.

After double checking, you are correct, the ASUS board is wrong.
(actually questioned it myself at first and should have double checked before posting)

RAMBUS's website shows 1 notch for 32bit modules.

Also, if you do not want to spend the money on another module
you can always purchase a Continuity module for the second slot.
