Running my test on my new 1.8@2.4ghz p4...I am running a test dvd to divx movie I already ran on my athln 1.4@1.5....

Gone in 60 seconds....

updated:
entire 2 pass encoding using nanub/gknot...2 cd rip w/ variable bitrate...704x304...(using same settings as before)

Athlon/sis735 = 4:07 minutes

P4/sis645 = 2:39 minutes

wow...a whopping 55 percent faster....

Also priority is letf the same and usually everything will feel very non responsive with the athlon, but I am moving smoothing in other applications like nothing is happening...maybe that is winxp I don't know

Running first pass (all same settings) in gknot

athlon = 2:10 minutes usually saw 25fps highest...

p4 = 1:36 minutes ....seeing mid 30's

wow that is a 35.4 percent increase so far....

Beautiful man! That is EXACTLY how to check out the stability! I've run a butt load of tests and they've all passed, but when I tried to encode a movie, BAM, crapped out after like 2 hrs! If you encode a movie or two with no erros you are definitely good to go. Nice overclock man. Hopefully when I get my P4 1.8A it will do 2.4GHz. What is the voltage you're running?

Have you tried DivX 5 yet?

I just got my 1.6a @ 2.4 1:1 1.65v and it's running thru prime95. Maybe tomorrow I will go for 2.6 :) These little guys have lots of headroom. Glad to see you got a nice one too.

memory is running 333mhz ddr w/ sandra 2525's...

No divx 5 yet...I have heard it is new and buggy...maybe later...this is testing with old reliable

I am running my 1.6A right now at 152 FSB (only thing I don't like is its at 1.75 setting in bios, but at full load its only running at 1.64) I think its time for a new powersupply and let this one go on my wife's rig I am building out of my KT7A (she actually wants to start playing games........:)).

BTW, Duvie great overclock.

Yes...I agree I would be concerned with such a drop...I get that when I try to run prime 95 w/ processor at 1.7v at 140fsb and 2.52ghz....the max voltage will be like 1.72v but drop down to levels like 1.61-1.64v...usually gets an error in about an hour....

I am not setting it above 1.65v....

Duvie, I have never ripped a DVD and I would like to back up a couple of mine, can you tell me, or p.m. me, what programs you use and maybe explain the process?

I would like to compare times for encoding between the two systems considering the slight mhz difference and compare memory bandwidth with your system to see if it has any effect on encoding time.

I have a 1.6a @ 2320mhz using 145mhz fsb with memory at 4:5 for 362mhz DDR, at this setting I get 2700mbps from my Kingmax PC2700 ram :D

It has been running 24/7 for 3 weeks doing Genome@home and playing lots of Q3

The bios shows me my pci....133/33 fsb/pci ratio I set...I assume the agp is still 2x the pci which is in spec, considering the pci is at spec...
