New P4 2.4ghz problem..

I just got a brand new P4 2.4ghz 533mhz CPU with a retail heatsink and fan. Now I'm having trouble keeping it cool, I installed MBM and the system temp is 77F, but the CPU jumps quickly to 167F within a few minutes after boot. Is the heatsink/fan combination not fitted properly, thus creating this problem? This is the first system I have built in a long time so don't be too harsh .

are you sure your using the right sensor?

that may be a good possibility are you using the pad or grease?

well with retail heatsink, im guessing you are using the TIM right (pad thing)
thats generally a nono in overclocking lol

take off the side of your case and see if its the same temperature (do you have adequate ventilation?)

Hey thanks for your replies, I found my mistake though:

Forgot to turn on the intake fan in the front oops! That fan is a beast, I can feel cold air all around my case
