New P180 Build

Just built a system for my dad in an antec P180. Overall, the case is very nice. It's high quality all around. There are a few issues though.

The system is:
A64 3400+ (2.4 gig newcastle)
Zalman 7000Al-Cu
Epox 8KDA3I
512 MB OCZ PC3200 2/3/3/6/2T
Audigy 2 ZS
MSI 9800 Pro
Enermax 431 watt psu
Samsung 120 GB HD
Sony DVD Burner

First of all, the cooling performance is just average. The cpu idles at 45ish with the zalman at full speed.

The noise performance is really good though. I have 7 fans running in this thing and for a 7 fan system, it's very quiet.

The front door doesn't latch unless you lock it. It seems to stay closed but it's not very secure.

Clean cabling this thing is a nightmare, fortunately the enermax psu has very long cables which help. The bottom chamber is a mess of wires though, I took the middle fan out because there simply wasn't room for it (plus my psu has 2 fans which should be enough for it and the single hard drive).

The VGA duct is too big. It makes wiring a pain and the fan mount on it only works with 15mm fans unless you have a half-height vga card. There is also no dust filter so it pumps dust in to an otherwise fully filtered system.

Computer issues:

The Epox board sucks. It can only take 1 double-sided ram dimm which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. It has 3 slots but you can only use a total of 3 banks with the system (is this normal for socket 754 nf3 boards?). The board is also overvolting my proc to 1.62 volts and the bios volt adjustment only lets me add increments, there is no way of selecting the right voltage.

I think there is a bios fix for this but I can't seem to get the bios to flash. It keeps giving me errors during the flash process (fortunately it happens before the bios chip is erased because it still works). Anyone have this kind of problem?

Sorry these pics are really big.

Do you have the PSU upside down?
I would think a PSU with a bottom fan would be starved for air since the bottom fan would be blocked by the bottom of the case.
Or does it have enough room under the PSU to get plenty of air?

There's about an inch both above and below the psu cage in the bottom, I have the intake fan on the psu facing down because it made cabling a little easier.

if it idles at 45c then

a)you put the heatsink on wrong/ thermal compound wrong

b) its very hot in your room

c)the thermal probe is incorrect.

sounds to hot to me

I would say it's real hot in that room if I had to guess, looks like you are in the loft or like a finished attic. We all know how hot it can get in an attic or loft, I would say that's why it's hovering around that 45c mark, using some good thermal compound could have helped also.

Yeah its about 85 in here right now. I ran out of AS too, I'm gonna pick some up tomarrow and re-apply it. What should a newcastle idle at? 35 - 40ish?

I'm also gonna grab a 1 gig stick of ram. All my local store has is twinmos though, is that any good? Their site doesn't list anything besides the ram speed, no timings are mentioned.
