Hey all!

Just got my Radeon yesterday and benchmarked it.
At the default settings, I got a 3DMark2001 score of 1954
I am relatively new to all the new hardware stuff so I don't know if that is a decent score. But the Deux Ex (I think) tests all seem VERY slow.

Here's how I installed.
I had a 3dfx V3 3000. So I uninstalled it, deleted the voodoo3.inf file. Rebooted. It came up in the standard driver mode. I then shutdown. Installed the card. Cancelled the detection, put the install CD in, installed everything, reboot, unzipped the 3124 drivers, and used driver manager to install the latest betas.

I should definitely mention that the Radeon is in a 2x AGP slot of a Intel 440BX motherboard running @ 550MHz with 256MB RAM. In my BIOS I have options for 64 and 256 AGP aperature, but that is about it. I left it at the default, 64.

Do I need to install a new motherboard to notice a big difference? Any and all suggestions are welcome and needed! Thanks!

A BX/AGP 2X is a fine platform. Not to worry there. There is no 128 AGP aperature setting on yout mobo? Deux Ex is one of those games that only runs well in Glide. As fas as 3DMark goes, Its hard to say. It does seem a bit low, but I'm not sure where a P550 should be. Check on the MO website for a close comparison and check. You have DX8 installed? This is a retail or OEM card?

I will check the website after I post this. I do have the latest DX8a installed and this is a retail card. And for some reason, my BIOS doesn't have a 128 aperature setting...Should I set it to 256?

I suggest you check out this site. I have a Radeon and the info here is extremely helpful. Search the forums and download some Radeon tweaking programs.

Definitely using Win2K

I do have a 98 partition but I am not worrying about that until I build my real system and get rid of this :disgust:GATEWAY:disgust:.

Piece by piece. Being broke sux;)
