i dont see the overdrive in my advanced tabs of video properties.. I have a Radeon 9500 Pro... Is Overdrive only available on 9800 cards or something?

Overdrive is talked about on Cat 3.8 review on main page if you dont know what i'm babbling about.

it only works for the XT's cause no other cards have an internal heat diode, which the program uses to gauge the OC and if it is stablle etc

Hmmm maybe we have a mode possible here. Anyone that has an XT and wants to send me some detailed pics of both sides I can check it out.

It's a nifty feature to be sure, but you have more control with conventional o'c proggies.

Overdrive only takes the 9800XT up to 432MHz IIRC (20MHz increase), you might even be better off with conventional overclokcing, even on XT cards.

Overdrive didn't seem to do much, but I also don't remember seeing any reviews of it with non-stock cooling. It would probably fare better with a better cooling solution on the card. Also, keep in mind that conventional overclocking voids your warranty, whereas overdrive does *not*.

On the 9600XT the core overclocked speed is 500/600, but that's what you can do with regular 9600 Pros anyway.

500/600 is base speed not using overdrive at all, so i'm guessing it can get a better then that as long as it's cool.

i was hoping anand would have given use case temps and specs (# of fans etc)

maybe they shoudl take the case side off, and aim a box fan at it for the next round to see how far it will oc itself if it remains a bit cooler :D

That it is. Useless for people who don't normally overclock, and even more useless for people who normally overclock.

But it's a nifty feature that I hope improves and comes standerd in future cards.
